How to Commission

  1. Start by getting in touch with me, either by phone or email. The initial contact is about getting to understand what you’re looking for, and having a chat about budget. I’m happy to try to provide a ballpark cost and timescale at this point, with no obligation before we delve deeper into the project. There are no limits on what type of item can be commissioned, from a chopping board to a fully fitted kitchen, I’m happy to discuss all projects big and small!

  2. Once I have an idea of what you have in mind, I like to visit the room intended for both freestanding and fitted furniture. This is useful so I can view the actual space, and discuss more about what you’d like and what it needs to do for you! I can also bring samples to help narrow down on the design aesthetics.

  3. After I’ve visited I’ll provide you with a design sketch and costing for your approval. If you decide to go ahead, then the design can be refined as necessary, and I can make up any relevant samples to help choose final specifications and finishes.

  4. Once you’re completely happy with the design, I take a deposit for purchase of materials and start making the piece. Once the build has begun I welcome and encourage visits to the workshop to see progress. Where that’s not practical I’ll keep you updated with photographs of key stages, and when the piece is ready I will deliver and install it personally and advise on upkeep. Payment of the balance is made on satisfactory completion.
